Deepika Padukone marked her entry in films on November 9, 2007 with ‘Om Shanti Om’. Celebrating 13 years of her debut in Bollywood, DP changed her social media name to ‘Shantipriya’, celebrating the iconic character and her entry in films. ‘Om Shanti Om’ was a reincarnation drama which featured Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, while Farah Khan helmed the venture.
For ‘Om Shanti Om’, Deepika had reportedly not given a screen test. Sharing about the film, DP had previously told ANI, “I had never been to a film set, didn’t know how to say dialogues and basics about body language. It gives me goose bumps thinking, without knowing whether I will deliver or not, but Farah and SRK trusted me. They literally hand held me through the entire process.”
Deepika had bagged the Filmfare award for the Best Female Debut for ‘Om Shanti Om’ and embarked on a promising journey in films. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s chemistry was much loved in this movie, which emerged as a massive blockbuster at the box office, earning a whopping Rs 78 crore. The couple also romanced in Farah’s another directorial – ‘Happy New Year’ as well as Rohit Shetty’s ‘Chennai Express’. Reports suggest that Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone may soon reunite for another Bollywood biggie.
