Aelay Trailer: Samuthirakani lives it up in Halitha Shameem's coming-of-age drama

The trailer of Halitha Shameem’s ‘Aelay’ is out. The trailer of the film, featuring Samuthirakani in the lead role, was released by actor Vijay Sethupathi. The film, touted to be a coming-of-age film has Samuthirakani in the role of an ice cream vendor, while writer-actor Manikandan, who also played a role in Halitha’s ‘Sillu Karupatti’, will essay his son’s role.

This heartwarming trailer is pegged around Samuthirakani’s death and how he lived his life. Manikandan plays his son in the film. The trailer shows the lively and fun life Samuthirakani had, his journey as an ice cream vendor, his characteristics and antics. Halitha in her recent interview told us that the film chronicles what happens in a span of 15-years. The story captures Samuthirakani journey till his 50s. There is humour, some fun moments and lots of emotion, she said.

On his role, Halitha added, “In ‘Sillu Karuppatti’, everyone appreciated his acting. It was a measured performance. But in ‘Aelay’, he will show many variations. He doesn’t have his wife with him, and is a parent of two. He wants to do good to his kids, but that doesn’t come across in the right way. In that sense, the character has its share of flaws, too.” With people lauding the trailer, the team must be ecstastic about the positive comments. The film is all set to hit the screens on February 12.
