This movie was made in 2016 it was based on a true story about the Mathunny Mathews, a successful business who helps the Indian Government collaborate with Air India to help evacuate 170000 Indians from Kuwait after Iraq raided the country.

The film was directed by Raja Krishna Menon and produced by Nikhil Advani, Aruna Bhatia, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vikram Malhotra and Monisha Adwani under Hari Om Entertainment, T- Series, Viacom 18 Motion Picture, Emmay Enterprises, and Abundantia Entertainment and it was written by Raja Krishna Menon, Suresh Nair, Rahul Nangia, and Ritesh Shah. Priya Seth handled the cinematography and editing was done by Hemanti Seth.

Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur in a lead role with supporting cast Purab Kohli, Pawan Chopra, Prakash Belawadi, Inaamulhaq, Avtar Gill and Arun Bali.

It was released on 22 January 2016, was made on a total budget of ₹ 30 crore and earn at the box office ₹ 251 crore. The film won Zee cine Award for its Background score and Acting Notably.

Music was composed by Ammal Malik except the song Dil Cheez Tujhe Dedi which was composed by Ankit Tiwari and lyrics was written by Kumaar.

The story revolves Rajiv Katyal (Akshay Kumar) a successful businessman with his ability, he refers himself as a Kuwait citizen, when Iraq attacks Kuwait under the order of Saddam Hussian, The government Leaves their citizens and people become helpless, needless, Then Rajiv feels that he is also Indian and he should help them,

Along with 170000 people who live in Kuwait’s but actually Indians, he starts the mission to run from Kuwait as soon as possible, He Tried his best level, he communicate to India for the help and the officers help from India.

Performance-wise Akshay Kumar has given a stunning performance, he completely justice to his role and Nimrat Kaur’s was Also very good in her role.

Airlift tells a very important story that never got a mention in our history books. And also because the attempt to try out such subjects and storylines is applause-worthy.
