After multiple delays and shuffling release dates, the makers of ‘Gulabo Sitabo’, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana in lead roles, are finally gearing up for a digital release.
Amidst buzz about a possible digital release, the film’s leading men – Bachchan and Khurrana, took to their respective social media handles to confirm the same. “Ek izzatdaar janaab aur uske anokhe kirayedar ki kahaani ..” Big B said in his tweet while announcing that the film will air on June 12.
This comes in as a first confirmed online release for a big-ticket film amidst rumours of several other Bollywood filmmakers looking to various digital platforms to release their multi-starrers.
Rumours doing the rounds claim that the makers of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Laxmmi Bomb’, Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘Ludo’, Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter’s ‘Khali Peeli’ are also eyeing a digital release amidst the coronavirus crisis.
“Gulabo Sitabo is an extremely simple film. It’s a sweet film about the banter between a landlord and a tenant. I’m the tenant, Bachchan sir is the landlord and we are always at loggerheads. It’s as simple as that,” Ayushmann told PTI in a statement.
Helmed by Shoojit Sircar, the film reunites the director with his ‘Vicky Donor’ star Ayushmann and ‘Piku’ star Amitabh Bachchan.
