Independent filmmaker Aneek Chaudhuri’s latest short film ‘And, he Blinks’ sees love from a completely different perspective. It is a tale of a locked-in syndrome man who lives in an eroded place and is being cared by his young nurse. Aneek’s previous feature films like ‘White’, ‘Cactus’ had received critical acclaim while his upcoming ‘Katti Nrittam’ has created a buzz among alternative cine lovers.
Sabuj Barddhan and Ipsita Kundu play the lead roles in ‘And, he Blinks’. It’s a 20-minute tale of dreams, liberty, pain and nirvana. The film has no dialogues and is shot by Soumya Barik and has been designed by Mrittika Mukherjee. Shot in lockdown, it comments on the life of stillness and contrasts it with a surrealistic sound design.
Speaking about the film’s concept Aneek says: “The characters have been inspired from seagulls and the same has been considered while making this film. I would quote it to be a minimalist picture of an untold love between two individuals.” ‘And, he Blinks’ is likely to be in the festival league, as expected and will release shortly.
