Anupria Goenka lends her support to Anurag Kashyap, says she has great respect for him both as a director and as a human being

Anupria Goenka recently came out in support of Anurag Kashyap who has been accused of sexual harassment and rape by Payal Ghosh. The actress said that she has great respect for him both as a director and as a human being. Talking to a news portal about the same, Anupria reportedly said that Anurag Kashyap advocates human rights, talks against fascism, supports the idea of women having agency and choice, and it all reflects in his work and his everyday functioning as well. She also added that strong, super talented and fiercely outspoken women who have worked with him, have come out in his support. According to her, that must stand for something. She stated that she respects Kashyap both as a director and as a human being.

Sharing her views on the #MeToo movement, Anupria feels the sanctity of the empowering the movement should be maintained given the way it provides justice to those who have been wronged. According to her, false accusations will derail and discredit the movement. She also hoped that people will not let it wither away.

Apart from her, many filmmakers and actors like Taapsee Pannu, Anubhav Sinha, Tisca Chopra, Hansal Mehta, and others came out in support of Anurag Kashyap. Not only them, his ex-wives, Aarti Bajaj and Kalki Koechlin too backed the filmmaker.

Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap reached Versova police station today after he was summoned to record his statement in connection with a case filed against him by Payal Ghosh on September 22.
