Anurag Kashyap reveals he dropped Ranveer Singh from ‘Bombay Velvet’ for THIS reason

Anurag Kashyap recently opened up about the ongoing insider-outsider debate in Bollywood. He revealed that there is one actor who, despite being an outsider, has struggled his way to the top and he is none other than Ranveer Singh. In a recent interview with a news portal, Anurag Kashyap reportedly recalled how he had dropped Ranveer Singh from his film, ‘Bombay Velvet’. According to the filmmaker, although people call him an insider due to some remote connection, he has struggled in the industry. Ranveer has a distant connection with Anil Kapoor’s family.

Elaborating further, he added that Ranveer was rejected in an audition in ‘Shaitan’. He also revealed that he wanted to cast Ranveer in ‘Bombay Velvet’ but he had a tough time doing so as his studios and others did not believe in him. They also told him they will not give me money if he made the film with Ranveer. Kashyap added that even though his own production rejected him twice, he is a star today.

Anurag also stated that the debate around nepotism is pointless as now is an era of OTT and many outsiders are coming in to showcase their talent. He also added that it was a decade back, when he fought the battle with nepotism.

On the work front, Ranveer will next be seen in Kabir Khan’s ”83’ co-starring Deepika Padukone and others. Deepika will also be co-producing the film. Apart from this, Ranveer will also be seen in Karan Johar’s period drama, ‘Takht’.
