Starring Anushka Shetty in the titular role of Rani Rudrama Devi, the unsung warrior queen of the Kakatiya dynasty, versatile filmmaker Gunasekhar has helmed ‘Rudramadevi’ with a hefty budget of Rs 80 crore and released it on this very day (October 9) in 2015. Amid massive expectations, the historical drama helmed in 3D format struck the right chord with the Telugu viewers for its epic plot, engaging narration, battlefield sequences, Ilaiyaraaja’s BGM and the ensemble star cast which includes Allu Arjun and Rana Daggubati.
As the film completes five years at the box-office, Anushka Shetty got nostalgic and penned an emotional post on Twitter. Terming it as a special journey, the 38-year-old actress thanked Gunasekhar for bringing a glorious history on the silver screen. She also acknowledged Allu Arjun and Rana for making the journey wonderful.
While Rana played the crucial role of Chalukya Veerabhadra in Rudramadevi, Allu Arjun stole the show as the enigmatic and rebellious, Gona Ganna Reddy. Despite having a short runtime, the Stylish Star of South cinema shined in some whistle-worthy scenes and his impeccable dialogues in Telangana diction created a rage in the theaters.
After helming Rudhramadevi, Gunasekhar has been working on Hiranyakashyapa for the last four years and during this period, he reportedly generated two hours of pre-visualisation footage which can be used in the film. Starring Rana Daggubati in the titular role, the Telugu-Hindi bilingual features an ensemble star cast and several technicians from Hollywood are expected to work for the project. Recently, the ‘Okkadu’ director has announced that the pre-production works of this mythological drama have been wrapped up
