Credited as the ‘Lady Superstar’ of Telugu cinema by her fans, Anushka Shetty can carry the entire film on her shoulders and her trademark quality is to extract massive footfalls into the theatre without depending on a bankable male lead.Along with Prabhas, the massive success of Baahubali franchise on the global arena has brought nationwide attention and pan-Indian popularity for her. While the first part of the warfare drama portrayed the 38-year-old actress as an old Devasena who is locked in chains by Bhallaladeva, the sequel showcased the younger version of her as a warrior queen.
Meanwhile, despite having a solid following both for her silver screen performances and off-screen persona, Anushka Shetty isn’t much active on her social media handles. With no Twitter account which is quite rare for an Indian actress, she commands close to 5 million followers on Instagram and over 22 million on Facebook. Apart from festival wishes to fans and movie promotions, she doesn’t reveal much about her personal life and when asked the reason, here is what she said so.
“Basically, I am a shy person who takes time to mingle with new people. However, when I enter the film sets, I forget about everything and gel with everyone. Besides films and family, I don’t know any other world and due to my hectic schedule, I can’t find time for social media. Though fans have been requesting to join Twitter, I am unable to cater time to it. Frankly, I don’t have much understanding of social media; however, if there is something I wish to share with all my fans, I will definitely join the micro-blogging site and be in regular touch with them,” said the ‘Bhaagamathie’ actress. Interestingly, her best friend Prabhas also doesn’t have an account on Twitter.
On the work front, Anushka Shetty is awaiting the release of her forthcoming film Nishabdham which has been postponed owing to COVID-19 crisis. Touted to be a suspense-thriller, the crossover film features an ensemble star cast like Madhavan, Michael Madsen, Anjali, Shalini Pandey, Subbaraju and Srinivasa Avasarala in pivotal roles.
