Arjunn Dutta: Super happy to see people can relate to my story

Director Arjunn Dutta is super excited and why not? First of all, his much-awaited film ‘Guldasta’ is releasing this October 21 and secondly, the official trailer of the film is creating quite a lot of buzz since its release earlier this week. In fact, his phone didn’t stop ringing for the last couple of days.

“People are calling me to say that they can relate to the trailer quite well. Many are saying these we often see in our daily life. I am so excited to hear all of these. Let’s see how the film works in theatres. We have been waiting for this moment for a long time,” shared the excited director.

The trailer reflects on the issues like domestic violence and other problems that haunt women in a patriarchal system. The soul-stirring song you hear the background is a masterpiece composed by Soumya Rit. It tries to amplify a sweet female friendship that bridges the gap between the protagonists’ households.

Women have always been Arjunn’s trustiest subjects since he started his filmmaking career, and when asked about the difficulties in penning women characters, he gives us an honest reply. “I feel writing about women is my comfort zone, I have been in the presence of women like my mum, my grandmother since I was a kid, and I understand them and the stories come out quite organically. When it comes to the women in Guldasta, I’ve seen the characters up close in real life,” shares Arjunn during an exclusive chat with ETimes.

Produced by Roop Production and Entertainment, ‘Guldasta’ tells the story of three women namely Srirupa, Dolly and Renu, who are connected in some way. Portraying these characters are three of the most reliable character artists in Tollywood – Swastika Mukherjee, Arpita Chatterjee and Debjani Chatterjee. The film also stars Ishaan Mazumder, Anubhav Kanjilal, Anuradha Mukherjee and others. The plot follows the journey of three distinctive women intertwined in a web of make-believe emotions.
