BAFTA 2021: 'Da 5 Bloods', 'Sound of Metal', 'The Trial of the Chicago 7', 'Mank' and other films in the running for nominations

It is finally awards season again, and although there will be changes to the glitzy award shows, it has not curbed the excitement. After the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild announced their list of nominees, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) released their long lists of artists and movies in the running for a nomination.

Films including ‘Da 5 Bloods’, ‘Sound of Metal’, The Trial of the Chicago 7′, ‘Mank’, ‘Soul’ that have been the clear favourites also featured on the list. Joining the big guns was Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and her latest film ‘The White Tiger’ that featured in various categories.

While fans have been cheering for their favourite films, it must be noted that these aren’t the final nominations. However, if a film or actor didn’t make it on the extensive list, then they will not be in the running for a nomination and the ultimate award.

After a few rounds of voting, the final list of nominations for the BAFTA Awards will be announced on March 9.

The award ceremony will take place on April 11. The event usually takes place before April but was postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
