Durga Puja is already here. However, the festive fun is deeply affected by the worldwide coronavirus scare. While most of the organisers opted for muted celebration, some have also decided to spend on social works. And this is how Sayantika Banerjee, Swastika Dutta, Krushal Ahuja and Abhisek Roy start their puja on Panchami. Along with the members of Jayashree Park Sarbojonin Durgotsav committee, they handed out new dresses to a group of underprivileged children and felicitated frontline COVID warriors, like doctors, policemen, civic authority workers and so on.
Elaborating on the event, Sayantika said, “It was an honour for me that I could start my festival with this work. To be able to be a part of such initiative always makes us happy. This is an extraordinary year. The deadly virus has disrupted our lives. We all have to be very careful. In this situation, it is great that we could help put a smile on the faces of these children. Also, I would remind everyone to be safe. Wear masks. Sanitise frequently and please maintain physical distancing.”
While talking about the event, an organiser said, “Our Puja is pretty old. We have really muted our arrangements. We are glad that help came from different quarters. We decided to use that by helping these people.”
