Prominent Bollywood actor Chunky Panday who is known for his comic roles has made his debut in Telugu and Tamil cinema with Prabhas’ 2019 actioner ‘Saaho’ and played the main antagonist in the big-budget project. From the past few days, speculations went rife that the 57-year-old actor will be playing daughter Ananya Panday’s on-screen father in the latter’s upcoming film ‘Fighter’ starring Vijay Deverakonda as the male lead.
Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Chunky Panday refuted reports of sharing screenspace with her daughter in ‘Fighter’. He told “I’d love to play Ananya’s father, but right now, what you’re hearing are just rumours. I’d wanted my daughter to be a doctor like my parents, but she chose to follow me into the movies and I was so proud and thrilled when she bagged a Filmfare Award which has eluded me. I’ve told her every film is a kundali and it’s for her to chart her own destiny.”
Ananya Panday will be making her debut in South cinema with ‘Fighter’. While the maiden schedule of the Puri Jagannadh directorial was shot in Mumbai during the early months of 2020, COVID-19 crisis and the subsequent lockdown has put the shoot temporarily on hold. Touted to be a sports-drama based on boxing backdrop, Fighter is being presented in Hindi by Karan Johar and it features an ensemble star cast with both Hindi and south actors.
Recently, rumours went rife that the 21-year-old actress is reportedly in consideration to play the second female lead opposite Mahesh Babu in ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’. However, there is no official confirmation on this news as of now.
