Since Vijay Deverakonda’s pan-India film with Puri Jagannadh titled Fighter was announced, netizens have been going gaga over the collaboration, Bollywood debut of the actor and his physical transformation for the film. The film also marks the debut of the female lead Ananya Panday in Tollywood. Recently, there were rumours that Ananya’s real-life father Chunkey Panday will play her onscreen father as well in the film but the Saaho actor has denied all the rumours in a recent interview.
He said, “I’d love to play Ananya’s father, but right now, what you’re hearing are just rumours. I’d wanted my daughter to be a doctor like my parents, but she chose to follow me into the movies and I was so proud and thrilled when she bagged a Filmfare Award which has eluded me. I’ve told her every film is a kundali and it’s for her to chart her own destiny.” Earlier, director Puri Jagannadh welcomed the Student Of The Year 2 actress and had written on Twitter, “Happy to welcome on board gorgeous @ananyapanday for our Pan India venture with my hero @TheDeverakonda produced by @karanjohar @Charmmeofficial @apoorvamehta18. Having fun directing this cool venture”(sic).
Ananya replied to the director and thanked him for the opportunity. She wrote, “Couldn’t be more excited to join a pan-India film. Thank you @purijagan, for this opportunity! Looking forward to a super fun time on the set. #AnanyaPandayVijayDeverakonda” (sic).
Geetha Govindam actor is said to have undergone mixed martial arts training for the film, where he will be seen sporting a muscular body. He was shooting in Mumbai when the lockdown was announced in March.
