Chupke Chupke (1975)

Chupke Chupke is masterpiece by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, based on Upendranath Ganguly’s Bengali story Chhadobesh. The film was produced by N. C Sippy and Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Romu N Sippy, and dialogue was written by Gulzar, Shakeel Chandra and Biren Tripathi, Editing was done by Subhash Gupta and Pandit Sridhar Mishra

 Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore, Om Prakash in the lead role with supporting cast Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Usha Kiran, David Abraham Cheulkar, Asrani and Keshto Mukherjee.

S.D. Burman has composed pretty good music for the movie with Lyrics written by Anand Bakshi, The best song is – Abke Sajan Saawaan Mein sung by Lata Mangeshkar. Other songs are also good

Film’s was released on 11 April 1975, made on total budget ₹ 9.91 lakh against the film received gross ₹ 2.22 crore as of 2019.

Chupke Chupke is the story of Parimal Tripathi (Dharmendra), Botany professor who fall in love with a Botany student Surekha (Sharmila Tagore) they both get married, he come to know the respect towards her Brother in Law (Om Prakash) who has not able to attend their wedding for some reason afterwards some circumstances arise and he pretend himself as a driver who speak pure Hindi without using a single English word in front of his brother in law, several characters get involved viz. Parimal’s friend – Sukumar (Amitabh Bachchan), his another friend – Prashant (Asrani), Prashant’s sister-in-law (wife’s sister) – Vasudha (Jaya Bhaduri) and many more. They enjoy the trick as they successfully confuse both the brother-in-law and her sister and one prank leads to another, confusing everyone but the initiators, resulting in a series of comic events.

Dharmendra was played very funny comedian role and does his brilliant job while Sharmila Tagore was natural and beautiful, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan too leaves a mark in a smaller role, Om Prakash was hilarious in his role and rest of the cast were great in their respective roles.
