A few months ago, Mega Star Chiranjeevi has announced that he’ll be starring in the Telugu remake of Malayalam superhit film ‘Lucifer’ and Sujeeth Reddy will be directing the project. However, from the past few weeks, speculations went rife that VV Vinayak has replaced the ‘Saaho’ director after the latter worked on the script for a few months. Confirming the same in his latest interview, Chiranjeevi revealed the reason why Sujeeth left the project.
Speaking to a daily, the 65-year-old actor said that Sujeeth came up to him amid the latter’s marriage proceedings and requested to excuse himself from the film as he was unable to concentrate on the script and pre-production works. Chiranjeevi gave a nod to the young filmmaker’s request and that’s when he approached VV Vinayak to take over the direction responsibilities.
So, it’s officially confirmed that the duo are teaming up for the third time after blockbuster films like Tagore (2003) and Khaidi No 150 (2017). Ram Charan is bankrolling the Telugu remake of Lucifer under his home banner Konidela Production Company. The original version featured Mohanlal, Manju Warrier and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles.
On the work front, Chiranjeevi is expected to resume shooting for his upcoming film ‘Acharya’ from October. Set against the backdrop of Dharmasthali, the first look poster of Acharya showcased the ‘Sye Raa’ star from the backside as he attacks a group of goons with a knife in his hand. Starring Kajal Aggarwal as the leading lady, the social-actioner is directed by Koratala Siva and Regina Cassandra will be seen in a special song.
The senior hero will also step into the shoes of ‘Thala’ Ajith for the Telugu remake of Kollywood blockbuster film ‘Vedalam’. ‘Billa’ fame Meher Ramesh will be directing the high-octane actioner.
