Biswanath Basu is happy that macha shows are back in full swing. The actor, who recently did a show in Bonga on the occasion of Saraswati Puja, is excited that shows are happening now after almost a year. “For an actor, a macha show is like oxygen as there we get to interact with the audience directly. The love they shower on you is unparalleled and that gives me the impetus to work more. Previously, people used to look down upon macha shows but now it is considered to be glamorous and the money earned by actors is quite substantial. Winter is the peak time for macha shows but this year it started late because of the pandemic,” said the actor, who will again be travelling to Basirhat today for a show. He added, “Not many know that I am very popular at macha shows for singing songs of Kumar Sanu. I sing his popular numbers like Tum Dil Ki Dhadkan Mein, Mera Chand Mujhe Aaya Hain Nazar, Dil Hain Ke Manta Nahin and so on. Sanu da (Kumar Sanu) too knows that I can sing his songs well. Added to that I deliver dialogues from my popular films like Boss, Kranti, 100 % Love, Paglu 2 and more.”
At present, the actor is busy shooting for two serials- Jibon Sathi and Jamuna Dhaki. “Director Atanu Bose is making a biopic on Uttam Kumar, where I will be playing the character of Tarun Kumar,” informed Biswanath, who just completed shooting for Subir Mondol’s Shortcut.
