Marathi actress Deepti Devi who was last seen in Nagraj Manjule’s ‘Naal’, says that she wants to step out of her comfort zone and do something different.
Deepti Devi has garnered a lot of accolades for her roles in films like ‘Mantr’, ‘Conditions Apply: Ati Lagu’, ‘Naal’ and ‘Page 4. Now, the actress has again gained the spotlight for her upcoming film, ‘Taath Kana’.
In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Deepti said “For me ‘Taath Kana’ was quite a challenge. My role as ‘Pratima Ramani’ in the movie was entirely distinct from the other roles I have acted till now. I have never imagined myself playing as a wife or mother. Whatever part I have played in this biopic of Dr PS Ramani, I hope that it enhances the family life of the doctor”
She further elaborated that ” Pratima’s role in Dr PS Ramani is very encouraging and inspiring for every woman. For me, it was a challenge for playing a wife of such a legendary and passionate husband”
Speaking about her character in the film, Deepti said “I like to choose a work which has a substance in it. ‘Taath Kana’ has that depth and substance. Secondly, our Girish Mohite, who gave me first break opposite Subodh Bhave in ‘Conditions Apply – Ati Lagu’. And I don’t want to repeat what I have been doing. I wanted to step out from my comfort zone and do something different”
While sharing her experience in working with Umesh Kamat, Deepti said “I was very happy when I came to know that Umesh is playing the role of Dr PS Ramani. I was excited because we were sharing the screen for the second time after ‘Samar – Ek-Sangharsh’ which was released in 2006. He is a fantastic actor and a very good friend of mine. He has done a fabulous job in the film”
