Filmmaker Faruk Kabir has been busy working on the script of the second instalment of his action-thriller ‘Khuda Haafiz’. Faruk, who has carved a niche for himself in the industry, in an exclusive conversation with ETimes talked about his favourite digital show, learning horse-riding, returning on the film sets and adapting to the new normal, resolution for 2021 and much more. Excerpts…
How different has this year been for you?
2020 has been a big learning and personal evolution to me. On the professional front, I had Khuda Haafiz, my film that garnered love and appreciation across the globe. I also won awards and recognition for 377 AbNormal, a project that’s very close to my heart. On the personal front, I got to spend a lot of quality time with my family and even got a chance to work on myself.
Favourite OTT show of 2020
A talent that you acquired in 2020
I delved into many new things. A skill I always wanted to acquire is horse riding and I learnt it this year.
Holiday destination you missed in 2020
It’s definitely going to be London, one of my most favourite places in the world.
Any regrets of 2020
No regrets, only gratitude.
Resolutions/Goals for 2021
I just want to be a better version of myself on all levels. I want to get stronger — emotionally, financially, physically and spiritually.
How was your experience on returning to the sets post the lockdown?
The day I returned to the set, I realised that what’s going on is the new normal, but we humans know how to adapt. That’s probably our biggest strength.
One film you are looking forward to in 2021
I am really looking forward to 83, the World Cup film by Kabir Khan, featuring Ranveer Singh.
What’s next for you?
I’m currently busy working on the script for Khuda Haafiz Chapter II, which we intend to start shooting by May next year. There also another adventure film which may go on floor by the end of 2021.
