Exclusive! Kabir Khan calls Kapil Dev’s hospitalisation “just a minor hiccup”, says “he will tee off in a golf course very soon”

The entire nation is praying for the speedy recovery of Kapil Dev after the ace cricketer underwent angioplasty at a hospital in Delhi in the middle of the night on October 22. ETimes exclusively got in touch with director Kabir Khan who is all set to release a film based on Kapil Dev’s life and career.

Reacting to the news of his health, Kabir Khan said, “Kapil Sir is the heart and soul of Indian cricket. This was just a minor hiccup. Knowing him he will tee off in a golf course very soon.”

According to a report in PTI, Kapil Dev suffered a heart attack. He was evaluated and an emergency coronary angioplasty was performed in the middle of the night.

Earlier today, the hospital released an official statement that read, “Cricketer Kapil Dev came to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (Okhla Road) emergency department at 1:00 am on 23rd October with a complaint of chest pain. He was evaluated and an emergency coronary angioplasty was performed in the middle of the night. Currently, he is admitted to ICU and under the close supervision of Dr Atul Mathur and his team. Kapil Dev is stable now and he is expected to get discharged in a couple of days.”

Kabir Khan is helming his next titled, ‘83’ which is a biopic based on the life of Kapil Dev, which talks about the time India won the coveted World Cup in 1983. Ranveer Singh will be seen playing the titular role in the movie.
