In Bollywood, it is assumed by many that one needs to be outgoing enough and show their presence at filmy parties to get familiar with people in order to get work. Interestingly, there have been some leading actors who have always mentioned being reserved and not being a party person. Khaali Peeli actor Jaideep Ahlawat, who hails from Haryana and is an outsider in this industry opines that there’s no such need to be visible at these so called ‘Bollywood parties’.
Talking to Bombay Times, he says, “When I was new here, I did hear people saying things like it is a must to be a part of film parties if you want to network with industry people.” Jaideep who made his Bollywood debut with Aakrosh in 2010, went on to be a part of films like Gangs Of Wasseypur, Commando: A One Army man, Raees, Raazi, Vishwaroopam among others, says that for networking he lets his ‘work’ do the talking.
He elaborates saying, “Meri networking kaam se kaam pe hoti chali aayi hai. One film led to another and the cycle continued. I am happy that people offered me new work looking at my previous performances. Also, there are so many such people jo parties mein nahi jaate, par phir bhi behtareen kaam karte hai.”
In an earlier interview with BT, Jaideep elaborated on his journey from a small town to Pune where he studied movies and then to Mumbai, where he began his career in Bollywood sans a godfather or a mentor.
