With theatres being shut, Malang actor Kunal Kemmu’s last film released on an OTT platform. While he looked forward to its theatrical release, Kunal says that with the augment of the digital space, especially in times of the lockdown, he has enjoyed its own benefits.
He says, “With people being in the lockdown at home, they consumed a lot of stuff from OTT. During this phase two of my projects came in the web space and I received much love from the audience.”
Talking about the benefits of the web space, Kunal adds, “It is huge! I feel it has given writers, producers, directors, actors etc, an opportunity to experiment. I think it pushed them to explore projects that otherwise wouldn’t take off, due to the traditional business of box office collections. A lot of projects that had no expectations to be made have now found acceptance in the web space. Through the numbers, one can measure how many people have viewed it and realise that there’s an audience that is willing to see stuff like this. It definitely has given a platform to a lot of content, and encouraged creative people to do things that they weren’t able to explore before the existence of the platform.”
