Sharman Joshi is one of the most talented and loved actors we have in Bollywood. While the actor commands a huge fan following across the country, he maintains a low profile on social media.
Spilling the beans on the same, Sharman exclusively told ETimes, “There is no particular reason as such. Honestly, I wouldn’t have been on social media at all if it was not for the kind of business I am in. I need to be there on social media platforms almost as a compulsion. Personally, I am a private person. I don’t like to share my private moments.”
When asked him, how difficult was it to make it in Bollywood when he first arrived, he revealed, “I entered the industry through theatres. I was actually very lucky because Gujarati theatres were very active so I got some good exposure in a span of four years. I was part of some good stories. They were all long-running plays. I got plenty of experience there. Most of our plays also happened in Bombay.”
Elaborating further, he added, “Eventually, I got my first film ‘Godmother’ in 1999. Director Vinay Shukla cast me because he had heard about me through the theatre. I had planned to do as good work here in Bollywood as I did in theatres and it all worked out well for me.”
Were you naturally inclined towards acting since childhood? “Yes, acting was always my first choice. However, I also had some back-up plans. I wanted to become a criminal lawyer. If nothing else, I would have been a businessman,” he concluded.
