Exclusive! Tulsi Kumar on demise of SP Balasubrahmanyam: Salman Khan and his voice really gelled well on screen

After putting up a tough fight against COVID-19, legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam breathed his last today at a hospital in Chennai. The entire film industry is mourning the loss of the iconic singer. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Tulsi Kumar said, “Passing away of a legendary singer like SP Subrahmanyam is a huge loss. I have personally loved all his renditions. He is such a legendary figure. We are all aware of the uniqueness of his voice. He has been a voice of a lot of actors and specifically of Salman Khan. He has done a lot of playback for Salman. Their voices really gelled well on screen.”

Elaborating further, she added, “The song that I grew up listening to is ‘Saathiya Tune Kya Kiya’ from ‘Love’ which SP sang with Chitra. This is a song that is extremely close to my heart. The news of his demise is heart-shattering. The legendary artist that he was, his work, his music and his voice will keep resonating in this world. I pray his soul rest in peace and may he be in peace wherever he is.”

Talking about all the people we have lost from the industry, Tulsi averred, “2020 is getting worse every day. We have lost so many people altogether throughout the world. Lots of gems of the industry have left us this year because of some reason or the other. There is a lot of negativity, turmoil throughout the world.”
