Flashback Friday: When Tusshar Kapoor revealed why he decided to become a single father through surrogacy over adoption

Actor turned producer Tusshar Kapoor is the first single dad of Bollywood who welcomes his son, Laksshya Kapoor in 2016 through surrogacy instead of adoption. While the actor is quite vocal about his fatherhood, he once opened up about his final calling to become a father and the reason why he chose surrogacy in a popular chat show hosted by Kareena Kapoor Khan.

During the show, on being questioned about considering surrogacy over adopting a child, Tusshar had shared that he wanted a biological child, just like every other parent. Addressing his adoption plans for future, he revealed to Bebo, “If people who get married and have stereotypical families would like to have their own kids, why can’t I, as a single parent?”

He had also added that he doesn’t understand why society advises singles wanting to become parents to adopt kids while the entire world is having biological children and further questioned the rights of single parents in the show.

Previously, talking about the life of a single parent, he had told ETimes, “Life as a single parent is amazing and very fulfilling. Being a parent is pretty much the same thing irrespective of single or two. If you really are somebody who has a bond with a child then the experience is going to be the same. The joyous moments of seeing your child grow, every milestone, see him change every day, keep doing new things, helping and teaching him are the little pleasures of life. So whether you are a married couple or a single parent, it is going to be as good if you are someone who loves kids.”
