Hansal Mehta comes out in support of Karan Johar's 'drug party’ allegations: Lack of unity and fear of persecution has rendered us looking like cowards

Film Director Hansal Mehta voiced his opinion in favour of Karan Johar who had issued a statement for clarification on the alleged ‘drug party’. KJo’s 2019 house party has been under radar ever since the NCB planned to investigate the video. Hansal wrote, “Thank you for setting the record straight and finally breaking your silence on all the slander and fake news around us. Not many from the industry will share this unfortunately. This lack of unity and fear of persecution has rendered us looking like cowards…”

Adding to this, he also commented, “Unless we put up a united front against this deliberate vilification and speak up I’m afraid this witch hunt will continue. There are many like me who support you. I hope people with greater power than us raise their voices to request an end to this continued abuse and slander”

Earlier, Karan Johar took to his social media handle to shut down the allegations that were claimed on him. With a strong worded clarification, Karan stated,’I would like to unequivocally once again state that I do not consume narcotics and I do not promote or encourage consumption of any such substance’.

Last year in July, Karan had shared a video snippet from their small house party where star celebs like Deepika Padukone, Malaika Arora, Arjun Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Vicky Kaushal among others were present. It was soon speculated that the stars at the bash were consuming drugs.

Many celebs stood in solidarity with the filmmaker and are backing his statement. A lot of stars like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Vicky Kaushal, Sonam Kapoor have expressed their support by liking his post.
