The Maharashtra State has decided to reopen multiplexes and single screens with 50 per cent capacity from tomorrow. Marathi filmmakers who were willing and waiting to release their films only in theatres have heaved a sigh of relief. In fact, several films are ready including Jang Jauhar, Bablee, June, Panghrun, Ananya, Jhimma, Gosht Eka Paithanichi, Medley etc.
Interestingly, as soon as the new broke, Hemant Dhome was among the first filmmakers to take to social media to officially announce the theatrical release of his film ‘Jhimma’. Written by Irawati Karnik, it features Sonalee and Siddharth Chandekar in lead roles.
Hemant shared a fresh poster of the film and confirmed that the film will hit the theatre soon. Speaking to us, the actor-director says, “As soon as I received an official GR pertaining to theatres’ reopening, I began to prepare the creative. I announced on social media just to infuse the atmosphere with positivity.”
Hemant admits that the entire period of the past six-seven months has been quite challenging for him. “There were times when I felt that the film would never release in theatres and maybe we’ll have to go for alternate options. But thankfully, theatres are all set to reopen now. I wish to see my film on the big screen as soon as possible. However we’ll be gauging the situation prior to that. Things are getting back to normal so hopefully people will start coming to cinema halls. We are waiting for Jhimma’s release with bated breath,” says Hemant.
