R Parthiepan’s Oththa Seruppu Size 7 and Lakshmy Ramakrishnan’ s House Owner have been selected for Central government’s awards from Tamil this year. Lakshmy Ramakrishnan, who was emotionally moved by the honour thanked the jury and the Central government. She said that she came quite late into the film industry.But these kinds of recognitions give confidence to directors like her who make films at very low budget.
Lakshmy Ramakrishnan in her movie,Hose Owner, has woven a heartfelt ode to unconditional love through her movie. The story has 2015 Chennai flood as the background.
Parthiepan who wrote, directed and produced Oththa Seruppu Size 7 said that he is very happy about the award and the honour is definitely a boost to those who want to make meaningful movies. He added that though he is not sure whether the film has won a national award or regional award, he considers his film should win a national award.Oththa Seruppu Size 7 has got National Award for Feature movie of Tamil Language. Parthiepan said that this award is going to be the happiest news in the year, which is otherwise marred by the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier, the two-time National Award winner had said that he was upset that his film was not sent for the Oscar awards. The film had already entered the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records.
The central government has issued a Gazette notification that awards will be presented to the above movies from Tamil.
