Hyderabad Floods: Prabhas and Pawan Kalyan announce massive donation for Relief Efforts

The recent downpour in Hyderabad has killed over 50 people, breached major lakes, inundated several colonies, swept away vehicles and created havoc in the City of Pearls. Along with the state police, the disaster response force and municipality workers are working round the clock in the relief operations to restore normalcy in the flood-hit low-lying areas. On Tuesday, several actors and filmmakers from the Telugu film fraternity came forward and announced massive donations to the Chief Minister Relief Fund of Telangana.

Joining the bandwagon, ‘Rebel Star’ Prabhas announced a donation of Rs 1.5 crore for flood relief efforts in the state. In a video statement, popular actor-cum-politician Pawan Kalyan said that he will be contributing Rs 1 crore to the CM relief fund. He also requested his fans and the cadre of his Jana Sena party to come forward and take part in the relief operations.

While Nagarjuna initiated the movement on Tuesday by contributing Rs 50 lakh, Junior NTR followed it with the same amount. Senior hero Chiranjeevi and superstar Mahesh Babu took to social media and announced a donation of Rs 1 crore to the Telangana CM Relief Fund. While Ravi Teja and Vijay Deverakonda contributed Rs 10 lakh each, Ram Pothineni gave away Rs 25 lakh.

On Monday, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) announced a financial package of Rs 550 crore for the flood-hit people residing in the low-lying areas and assured Rs 10,000 as an immediate relief to each household hit by the floods.
