I was nervous about sharing screen space with Deepika, says Siddhant Chaturvedi

Siddhant Chaturvedi is swamped with work, but given the line-up of films, we are sure that he’s ecstatic. After finishing the shoot of his Shakun Batra film, starring Deepika Padukone and Ananya Panday, the actor jumped right into his next, Phone Bhoot with Katrina Kaif and Ishaan Khatter.

After his fine performance in Gully Boy where he played Ranveer Singh’s mentor, Siddhant started enjoying quite a fan following and came to be known as MC Sher, his character from the film. While the young actor is confident about his talent, he admits that working with an artiste like Deepika got him nervous. He said, “Deepika is extremely talented. She is one of our senior actresses and the prettiest, and yes, I was quite nervous to share the screen space with her. I was wondering how it would go before the shoot commenced, but it went off really well. She is extremely simple and we got along well.

On days when we were not shooting, we had dinner together. It was a great environment on the set and I eased into it. It’s lovely how she brings in her own flavour to a script or

a story.” He further elaborated, “Shakun as a director believes in more of a natural approach to work, and so does Deepika. She is spontaneous, so to watch her react to something is special. She submits herself to a character wholeheartedly. This is the reason her performances tend to be real and special. To observe her act was really interesting.”
