Deepika Padukone’s manager, Karishma Prakash, who was summoned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), probing the drug angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, sought an exemption on Tuesday citing ‘ill-health’. However, the latest reports doing the rounds claim that the celebrity talent manager is in Goa with Deepika.
According to reports on news portals, Karishma is in Goa, where Deepika commenced shooting for director Shakun Batra’s untitled film on Tuesday. The project that also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday in lead roles, is being produced by Karan Johar. The star-cast, director and producer were spotted heading to the neighbouring state last week, well in time before they could kick off the shoot.
This update comes in a day after an NCB source said in a statement to PTI that Karishma could not appear before the agency due to ill-health. “She has been exempted from appearance before the central agency till Friday”, he said.
The agency is currently probing the alleged Bollywood-drug nexus that branched out of the Sushant Singh Rajput death case after certain WhatsApp chats indicated that celebrity managers of a talent management firm were “supplying drugs” to their A-list clients.
The NCB is also expected to summon actors Rakul Preet Singh, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, among other celebrities for interrogation in the probe.
