Akhil Akkineni made his debut in Akhil: The Power of Jua as a young and carefree orphan who fights in the streets for money. When the film didn’t get him the kind of response he had hoped for, he soon reinvented himself as the perfect boy-next-door for Hello, Mr Majnu and now with the yet to be released, Most Eligible Bachelor. While Hello saw him do parkour and Mr Majnu saw him beat up goons, the actor truly reigned in the macho after his debut film.
However, looks like he’s ready to give it a try once again as he has given the nod to Surender Reddy, who’s known for making proper action dramas like Dhruva and even the recent Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy which saw Chiranjeevi in his full swashbuckling glory. “It’s time, it’s definitely time for the world to see the action hero I see in Akhil,” says an excited Surender, adding, “I feel like after his first film, no one truly explored the potential in him to be that kind of a hero. We saw glimpses of it in Hello and Mr Majnu but nothing full-blown.”
Surender Reddy stated that when he penned the film’s story, there’s no one else he could think of. “It’s too early to reveal details about the film but I saw the character I wrote in him and trust me; no one has shown him the way I will on-screen. I want to touch the energetic actor in him, his massy side. And I believe my next film with him, which will be a complete action entertainer like Race Gurram will be the perfect way to do so,” he says, rounding off.
Surender Reddy also has a film lined up with Pawan Kalyan but he refused to reveal details about the same.
