Javed Akhtar opens up about the insider-outsider debate, feels people are confusing inheritance with nepotism

The tragic death of Sushant Singh Rajput has further fuelled the already raging fire of nepotism in Bollywood. The insider-outsider distinction has also left the industry divided. Javed Akhtar, who recently opened up about the much-talked-about debate, felt that people are confusing inheritance with nepotism.

In an interview with a news portal, Javed Akhtar reportedly said that inheritance cannot be called nepotism and according to him, people are confused between the two. He also added that nepotism is not possible because ultimately, the person who is buying the ticket at the box office is the voter and that cannot be rigged.

The ace lyricist also opened up about the alleged drug abuse in Bollywood. According to him, he has never seen people doing drugs at Bollywood parties. He also added that it’s the malice of society and that should be looked into.

Shedding some light on the groupism in the film industry, Javed Akhtar reportedly said that it all came down to the level of comfort. According to him, when you work with each other, you develop a sense of understanding and your communication is perfectly honed.
