Jersey is a 2020 Hindi language sports drama film. Jersey movie stars Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur in prominent roles. Shahid Kapoor has begun preparing hard for his upcoming Hindi remake of Telegu film ‘Jersey’. To get into character for this sports flick, the star has started training hard to perfect his cricketing skills before he takes over the pitch. According to reports, Shahid is learning everything there is to know about the game by regularly going for the cricket sessions.
The film is jointly produced by Allu Aravind, Bhaumik Gondaliya, Aman Gill and Dil Raju. ‘Jersey’ that will be directed by Gowtam Tinnanauri who helmed the original, revolves around the life of a cricketer showcasing the struggles and failures he faces while trying to make it to the Indian cricket team.
Official announcement for the film was made in October 2019 and principal photography commenced in Chandigarh on 14 December 2019. Jersey is a personal film. It’s a human journey and it touched me deeply. It’s a very emotional film. He said he is leaving no stone unturned to get his Jersey character right.
“I used to think I am a good cricketer because I used to play at school. I forgot the fact that there has been a long gap where I have not played cricket. It’s fun to play cricket just like that, but when you are playing (the role of) a cricketer you need to get the technique right and dedicate a lot of time to it. I am trying to give as much time I can,” he said.
“I think we are in a time where authenticity is important. I don’t think that as an actor you can get away without being convincing about playing a sportsperson. I am trying to get as close as I can. I am padded up, I am practicing every day with season ball, with all the gears.” The film is scheduled to release on August 28, 2020.
