Actor John Abraham will break the jinx of no big ticket film being shot in the city in five months when he commences the shoot of Satyamev Jayate 2 in Lucknow next month. The sequel to the 2018 film, directed by Milap Zaveri, will have John once again play a vigilante who goes on a spree of killing corrupt cops. Giving him company on screen will be Divya Khosla Kumar, who breaks her 16- year hiatus from the big screen and actor Manoj Bajpayee.

Another interesting local angle, apart from the story moving from Mumbai to Lucknow, is the presence of Lucknowite Santosh Shukla, of Bigg Boss fame, who is cast as the villain in the film.
Director Milap Zaveri has been in the city since several days scouting for locations which include the outskirts of Lucknow as well.
Talking to us on why he zeroed in on Lucknow, Zaveri says, “I’m happy to be in Lucknow for a technical recce with key members of my team. We are exercising all precautions while surveying this beautiful historical city. It is a privilege to base my film Satyameva Jayate 2 in the heart of our country.”
While earlier the film was to release on Gandhi Jayanti, Oct 2, 2020, the lockdown put a stop to the shoot and in the interim Zaveri reworked the script to set it in Lucknow rather than Mumbai.
“When the movie gets released, I hope it will be seen as a story of India and touch the lives of all Indians,” he says.
