Actress Payal Ghosh, who debuted in Kollywood with Therodum Veedhiyile has accused filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap of sexually assaulting her a few years ago. While Anurag, who made his acting debut in Tamil with ‘Imaikkaa Nodigal’ has said that the allegations are baseless, several actress who has worked with him have extended their support to him. Now, Anurag Kashyap’s ex-wife Kalki Koechlin, who was seen playing herself in a cameo appearance in Ajith’s ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’, has come in support of her ex-husband in the controversial claim by Payal Ghosh
Taking to her social networking page, Kalki Koechlin said, “Dear Anurag, Don’t let this social media circus get to you, you have fought for the freedom of women in your scripts, you’ve defended their integrity in your professional space as well as in your personal life. I have been witness to it, in the personal and professional space you have always seen me as your equal, you have stood up for my integrity even after our divorce, and you have supported me when i felt unsafe in a work environment even before we got together.”
“This strange time where everyone gets to abuse one another and make false claims without any repercussions is a dangerous and repulsive one. It is destroying families, friends and countries. But there is a place of dignity that exists beyond this virtual blood bath, a place of paying attention to the needs of those around you, a place of being kind even when no one is looking, and I know you are very familiar with that place. hang on to that dignity, stay strong and keep doing the work you do. Love from an ex wife,” signed off Kalki.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and actress Kalki Koechlin, who met on the sets of ‘Dev D’, instantly fell in love with each other and moved in together. After a courtship of nearly 3 years, they married in 2011 but their marriage couldn’t last long due to their differences. As both got busy with their work and weren’t able to give each other time, they mutually decided to part ways in 2013 and issued a joint statement about it. They were finally granted a divorce in 2015 as they were going through marriage counselling.
