Kangana Ranaut is in the eye of a social media storm after comparing Mumbai City to Pakistan occupied Kashmir. At a time when the BJP distanced itself from the actress and her statements against the city and its people, members of the Shiv Sena party and other political parties have demanded action against the actress for her comments that even included, comparing Mumbai to the terrorist outfit – the Taliban.
Not one to bow out of a social media battle, the actress claimed that she was the first in the history of Hindi cinema to bring “Maratha Pride” Shivaji Maharaj and Rani LaxmiBai to the big screen.
Slamming all trolls, she tweeted, “All chaploos who are showing their love for Maharashtra must know I am the first Actor/ Director in the history of Hindi Cinema to bring Maratha Pride Shiva Ji Maharaj and Rani LaxmiBai to the big screen and I faced huge opposition during the release from the same people.”
She went on to claim that she put her life and career on the line in an “Islam dominate industry” to make a film on Shivaji Maharaj and Rani Laxmibai.
Calling herself Maratha, she said, “Maharashtra didn’t belong to anyone’s father, but Maharashtra belonged to the ones who revered the Maratha pride.”
The actress also shared a video of people beating her poster with slippers and said, “After Sushant and Sadhus murder now beating my posters with chappals for my opinions on administration, it seems Mumbai is addicted to blood.”
Despite stating that she fears a threat to her life, Kangana announced early this afternoon that she will return to Mumbai city on 9th September. She issued an open challenge on social media saying, “kisi ke baap mein himmat hai toh rok le.”
This came after the uproar created over the actress’ comments and the Maharashtra Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh slamming her saying, “Some people are trying to target Mumbai Police. An IPS officer has gone to court against this. After, her comparison of Mumbai Police, she has no right to live in Maharashtra or Mumbai.”
According to reports, Deshmukh also hinted that action could be taken against the Bollywood actress for defaming the Mumbai police and the city’s image.
