She became a mother to a baby boy on May 5 and on July 11, she, along with her family, tested positive for COVID-19. Life hasn’t been easy for her lately, but Koel Mallick is a happy soul despite Kabir, her son, giving her sleepless nights. And why not? Koel’s Puja release ‘Rawkto Rawhoshyo’ is receiving a lot of praise from the audience while she also has earned accolades for her natural acting in the thriller.
The past few months have not been easy for the popular actor. So, what keeps her positive despite all the difficulties, we asked Koel.
“My son (smiles). He’s our rainbow as well as our sunshine. He has made our lives happier and brighter in all possible ways. Honestly, I’ve always been a very positive person and I maintained that even when my family tested COVID positive or when I gave birth in the middle of a pandemic. Not for once did I let anything get to me. Life is a roller-coaster ride and come what may, one should embrace everything with a smile,” shared Koel in an exclusive chat with ETimes.
Has motherhood changed her? How difficult is it to raise a child born in the COVID era? To this Koel insists she doesn’t see motherhood as a new feather in her cap.
“It is a natural part of my existence. My priorities have surely shifted. Like every other mother in the world, my life too revolves around my child and his well-being. But I’m equally mindful of my responsibilities as a daughter, a wife and a daughter-in-law. As far as COVID is concerned, health is the top priority for everyone now. Since my relatives, especially the elderly family members, can’t meet him in person due to safety reasons, I make it a point to connect them on video calls, so that they don’t miss out on their grandchild’s activities,” said the actress adding that she now wants to enjoy the time with her son and there’s no hurry in resuming work.
