Mahesh Bhatt’s family seeks injuction against actress Luviena Lodh for defamatory statements, demands written apology and Rs 90 Lakh for damages

After actor Luviena Lodh claimed to be a relative of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and accused her estranged husband, Sumit Sabharwal of trading drugs and flesh, the Bhatt family, including Mahesh Bhatt’s sister, Kumkum Saigal, and nephew, Sahil Saigal have filed an injuction against Lodh at the Bombay City Civil Court on Wednesday to seek a written apology and a sum of Rs 90 lakh for making allegedly defamatory statements against them.

According to a news portal, the actor’s lawyer has received time until next week to file their reply before the court, without granting interim relief as sought by the plaintiffs in the matter. He is likely to seek transfer of the case to the Dindoshi Civil Court.

Earlier, Luviena had shared a video on her Instagram account claiming that Mahesh Bhatt has been harassing her. She also mentioned in the video, “if something happens to me or my family tomorrow, the only people responsible for it would be Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt, Sumit Sabherwal, Sahil Sehgal and Kumkum Sehgal.”

Addressing the allegations, Mahesh’s daughter, Pooja Bhatt wrote in a tweet, “Please note that the lady in question is not a ‘relative’ since the man she was married to-Sumit Sabherwal is not MR Bhatt’s nephew as mentioned, nor related to him in any other way. Sumit is a senior production manager/head of production at @VisheshFilms.”
