Mangesh Joshi's Karkhanisanchi Waari goes to Tokyo International Film Festival 2020

Recently many movies from the country have made it to various previous International film festivals, joining the league director Mangesh Joshi’s upcoming Marathi film ‘Karkhanisanchi Waari’ has also made its way to the 33th Tokyo International Film Festival 2020. The movie’s world premier will be held in the festival during October 31 to November 9.

Mangesh’s film ‘Lathe Joshi’ has also won many awards and has been screened in various international film festivals too. Sharing about the film, Mangesh shares, “This is a story of a family who is on a journey to Pandharpur. Head of the family Purushottam Karkhanis dies and according to his last wish the family including his three brothers, a son and a sister takes his ashes to immerse it in the Chandrabhaga river, Pandharpur. We are happy that the film is having the world premier at such a big platform.”

The movie features Amey Wagh, Mrunmayee Deshpande, Mohan Agashe, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Pradeep Joshi, Vandana Gupte, Shubhangi Gokhale among others.

Sharing about the movie Amey Wagh says, “It’s a travel film and the cast is also interesting. It’s good news in this pandemic time. The Marathi film has gone to international level and it is indeed an achievement.”

The film is shot in different locations in Pune, Phaltan, Dehu and Pandharpur before the lockdown. The post production work of the film was completed during lockdown on work from home basis. “As the unlocking process began, we saw the final film. Due to the pandemic scenario we can not attend the festival,” Mangesh adds. The team is waiting for cinema halls to open to release the film, “However, we have also kept the option of OTT platform open if we get the offer,” Mangesh concludes.
