Maqbool is a Vishal Bhardwaj film based on Macbeth by William Shakespeare, produced by Bobby Bedi under Kaleidoscope and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, editing was done by Aarif Shaikh and cinematography has handled by Hemant Chaturvedi.

It Stars Pankaj Kapur, Irrfan Khan, Tabu , Masumeh Makhija, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Piyush Mishra, Ankur Vikal, Masumeh Makhija, Shammi Narang, Manav Kaushik and Murali Sharma.

Lyrics was given by Gulzar and music was composed by Vishal Bhardwaj, The soundtrack consist of eleven songs, Music was imaginative with captive visualizations.

Pankaj Kapur won the Filmfare awards for Best Actor (critics) and National Awards for Best Supporting Actor for this movie.

The story was based on Abbaji ( Pankaj Kapoor ) the underworld king of Mumbai has two faithful’s helping him in his business Maqbool ( Irfan Khan )and Kaka ( Piyush Mishra ) and his mistress Nimmi ( Tabu ). She falls in love with Maqbool, they both planning to kill Abbaji and take – over his empire, Abbaji Daughter Sammer’s (Mausami) wedding to Guddu(Ajay Gehi) Kaka’s son, on their wedding day He secretly kill Abbaji and declares himself the leader of the gang. The underworld is in a state of shock and everyone suspects Maqbool. But no one dares raise a voice against him. Maqbool then goes on to murder his close friend Kaka to gain absolute power.

The performances from all the five key players, Irrfan Khan, Tabu, Pankaj Kapur, and the two cops, Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri are out of the world and the screenplay, cinematography, sound design are dialogues are brilliant.
