She’s only had two releases in Kollywood and is shooting for her third film now. But Nidhhi Agerwal already has a temple dedicated to her in Chennai! The actress, who had two releases this Pongal, says she got to know about it when a few of her fans messaged her on social media!
“They told me it’s their Valentine’s Day gift to me,” she says, “I was shocked. I didn’t expect it. But I am also happy and thankful to have fans who shower me with love.” The Eeswaran actress adds, “I don’t know the exact location of the temple, but I was told that it’s in Chennai. It’s been done by my Tamil and Telugu fans.”
Building temples for stars is not new in Kollywood culture — MGR, Khushbu, Namitha and Hansika are some of the actors for whom their fans have built temples. There were reports of Nayanthara’s fans building one for her, too. Ask Nidhhi if she feels she’s earned this honour already, and she says, “I am still so new. I’ve done just two films in Tamil, a few in Telugu and I’m shooting for a couple of them in both the languages now. So yes, it’s shocking, but I am also overwhelmed. I didn’t know my fans would go to this extent and do something like this. I don’t even have a formal fans association. I do interact with them on social media, but I haven’t had that chance last year, and in 2021, I’d been caught up with my releases and shoots. I have spoken about wanting to do something for kids and dogs in my interviews. So, I know they have been conducting annadhanam for kids and doing welfare activities for animals, which I encourage. But this is unexpected. I just want to say, thank you for all the love. I’m grateful to have such fans.”
Meanwhile, the actress is on a schedule break now and will join the set of her Telugu film with Pawan Kalyan next. “After that, I’ll start shooting for my film with Udhayanidhi Stalin and Magizh Thirumeni. We have quite a lot of portions left in that film,” she signs off.
