Nikhil Kumaraswamy was in the midst of shooting for his next, Rider, when the pandemic brought everything to a standstill. And while his professional life ground to a halt, the personal was on the upswing, as he got married during the pandemic. “Marrying Revathi is the best thing that could have happened to me. She understands me well, as well as the dynamics of both politics and filmmaking,” says Nikhil.
A year since he was last on a film set, when the team said they were ready to resume, Nikhil was, no doubt, raring to be back in action mode. The actor is currently shooting for the Vijay Kumar Konda directed film in which he plays a basketball player in and around Bengaluru.
“It is a great feeling to be back on the set. But more than that, I have a deeper connect with the film because I have been involved in the scripting process. Rider is a commercial movie with a bit of sports as well that we are positioning as a mass entertainer. We have completed 70% of the shoot and are now looking at canning an elaborate action sequence in Yellapura this week,” says Nikhil, adding that he is looking at collaborating with Vijay Kumar on another commercial entertainer later this year.
Films apart, politics continues to be a major part of Nikhil’s life. “I am fortunate that people have accepted me in both the fields. When people shower so much love on you both in politics and films, it is only fair that I dedicate myself equally to both,” he signs off.
