Parthiban's Oththa Seruppu wins three awards at Toronto Tamil International Film Festival

The Toronto Tamil International Film festival 2020, has announced top awards for Tami films under the Tamil category. Parthiban’s acclaimed film Oththa Seruppu Size 7 has won three awards, which includes the Jury Award for Best Feature Film, Jury Award for Best Feature Film Director and Best Solo Act Award.

Talking about this honour, Radhakrishnan Parthiban says, “The taste of the audience only decides the quality of cinema. There is no second thought about it. I can never forget the audience’s acceptance for a film like ‘Oththa Seruppu’. I am happy to have received three awards for the film at the Toronto Tamil International Film Festival. I would like to thank all the technicians who has worked in film.”

Oththa Seruppu is a thriller featuring only one character, played by Parthiban. It has been lauded for its novel attempt in telling a murder mystery through a middle-aged security guard under interrogation as a murder suspect by the police. Music for the film was by Santosh Narayanan. The technical team consisted of sound designer Resul Pookutty and cinematography by Ramji.

Actor/director Parthiban also revealed that he will soon be making a big budget film titled ‘Iravin Nizhal’.

The Toronto Tamil Film Festival describes itself as an annual showcase of Tamil Cinema created by Tamils internationally on its website. It claims to be “one of the most significant festival of Tamil films held anywhere outside of Indian subcontinent”, with a potential audience of 500,000 Canadians of Tamil descent.
