In a ground-breaking move, the Indian Army stated that it is considering a proposal to allow civilians to join the force for three-year tenure as officers and jawans. The (Tour of Duty) ToD scheme, in case approved, will initially be launched with around 100 vacancies for officers and 1,000 for jawans. Army says that after the ToD tenure, youngsters can find lucrative private and public sector jobs.
Actress Pranita Subash lauded the move and said that it would be excellent if implemented. She wrote on her micro-blogging page, “Totally in agreement. Excellent move if implemented! Will allow our youth to serve in the Army and reduce defence pensions that make up to 30% of the defence budget. #TourofDuty.”
In the meantime, the actress has been raising money for the needy and also providing them food since the lockdown across the country began.
