After their collaboration in Kammarasambhavam, actor-scriptwriter Murali Gopy and director Rathish Ambat had announced that they would team up in 2020 for a movie starring Prithviraj in the lead. The pandemic, however, seems to have pushed their plans to next year.
In a recent post, Murali Gopy had shared the news through his social media along with a photo of him and the filmmaker. “With Rathish Ambat. Our next movie together would, hopefully, be on floors by 2021 beginning,” he had captioned the photo.
Two years ago, Rathish in an interview with us had said, “The movie will be set in the current era. We are hoping to start the shoot in March 2020, after Prithviraj finishes work on Aadujeevitham. Murali is currently working on the script, so any details about the character or the plot would be premature at this stage.” It seems that the scriptwriter has finished work on the script.
Meanwhile, another much anticipated script that Murali is working on is Empuraan, the next film in the Lucifer franchise. Prithviraj recently shared on his social media that the duo had discussed the script and that he “cannot wait to get this started… as much as a fan… as a filmmaker”.
In an earlier interview, on what worked for Lucifer, Prithviraj told, “Everything that you see in the film is by design – be it the props, paintings, car or the background sets. I, however, had to take a call on how I packaged the film. Murali and I wanted it to be appealing to everybody. People who go in to watch a ‘mass’ action film get what they want; those who like to view films with a little bit of a discernment can find layers in it. If I had overlooked the latter part, I don’t think Lucifer would have done this kind of business. At the same time, Murali and I don’t have it in us to make a straightforward, flat movie.”
