Director Srijit Mukherji told us he doesn’t really have a stand on the Sushant Singh Rajput death probe, but would want the bureau to do the needful. “Though media has been giving minute-by-minute updates on the matter, I was keeping a little too busy with my work to understand the nitty-gritty of the case. As far as I know, keeping or peddling marijuana above a permissible limit is illegal in India and if that has been the case, then it is a punishable offence,” Srijit said.
The director hasn’t been following the case but is aware of the noise it has created in the country. “All I want to say is that the guilty should be punished, but I am not too clued in as to who could have done what. But yes, the witch-hunting was really not required. I have also heard of hermits possessing ganja in India, but how much is too much is something I am not aware of. If any illegal work has been underway, the law will take its own course and that’s natural,” he said.
