Ridhima Pandit, who became a household name with Hindi TV serial Bahu Hamari Rajni Kant, is all set to foray into Marathi cinema now. The actress is playing the leading lady opposite Ankush Chaudhari in director Aditya Sarpotdar’s upcoming Marathi film, Maheshcha Badla. Happy to be working in a film in her mother tongue, Ridhima says, “Marathi cinema is known for its strong content. For me, getting into Marathi films is a step forward in my career. Being a Maharashtrian, I feel immensely proud to be making my big screen debut with a Marathi film. However, while I understand the language well, I’m not fluent in it.”
Ridhima adds, “Which is why, I was a little skeptical about taking up the project initially. But Aditya and his team members used to sit with me during the shoot and help get the pronunciations right.”
Speaking about the film, the actress adds, “The film is an official remake of National Award winning Malayalam film titled Maheshinte Prathikaaram. I play the love interest of Ankush Chaudhari.”
Ridhima dedicates this film to her grandmother. “I have done so much work in Hindi TV, but my aaji only remembers about a matrimonial advertisement that I did in Marathi, a few years ago. In fact, she is the only family member who communicates with me in Marathi. She wanted me to feature in a Marathi film some day,” shares Ridhima, adding that she hopes her debut film hits the theatres this year. “The film was shot three years ago. I often jokingly ask Aditya when he is planning to release it as my 93-year-old aaji is eagerly waiting to watch my first Marathi film,” says Ridhima.
