Some Bollywood actors took to social media to pay tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his birth anniversary. Among them were Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh. Ajay’s recent Bollywood venture Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior had him portraying the titular role, while Sharad Kelkar played the great Maratha King in it. Few are aware that this is one iconic character that has fascinated Riteish Deshmukh, too.
Some years ago, there was buzz that the Housefull 4 actor would be making a film on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and essay the role himself. However, that plan didn’t seem to materialise. Riteish has often expressed the immense respect and admiration he has for the warrior king. The Ek Villain actor shared it with this post, which sees him bowing in front of a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Last year, at an event, talking about his plans to make a trilogy on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, he had said that he would be associating with Sairat director Nagraj Manjule and composer duo Ajay-Atul for the project. The Baaghi 3 actor had even made the announcement on his social media handle.
It looks like, the trilogy, like many other projects in Bollywood, was delayed due to the pandemic.
