RRR: Lyca Productions acquires Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of the NTR-Ram Charan starrer

While the shooting of RRR is proceeding at a brisk pace in Hyderabad, the makers are busy with the pre-release business and according to reports, the numbers are shattering all existing records in the country. Earlier today, Lyca Productions announced on social media that they have acquired the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of the SS Rajamouli directorial. While there is official confirmation on the figure, grapevine suggests that the deal has been closed for a whopping sum of Rs 45 crore. Currently, the popular production house has big-ticket projects like Indian 2 and Ponniyin Selvan on floors.

A month ago, the makers of RRR revealed on social media that they had started filming climax portions. To shoot the part, the team has erected a massive set at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad and a high-octane climax sequence is currently being shot which is estimated to be about 20 minutes.

Set against the pre-independence era of the 1920s where India in under colonial rule, RRR is a fictional tale that hypothetically juxtaposes the journeys of Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju. While Junior NTR is playing the former in this period-actioner, Ram Charan will be seen as the latter. Starring Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt in crucial cameos, the 450 crore budgeted project features acclaimed foreign actors like Olivia Morris, Alison Doody and Ray Stevenson.

Initially scheduled for a global release in 2020, the shooting of the Rs 400 crore project got halted in March as the pandemic played spoilsport.
